Workshops, dialogues and speeches
Mary O'Hagan offers high quality workshops, dialogues and speeches to the mental health workforce, community groups, service users and other stakeholders – designed to assist people understand and apply the recovery philosophy into multiple facets of their work or lives.
The workshops and dialogues can take two hours at a minimum on a single topic, to a five day course on all the subjects, or anything in between. The topics are flexible - they include:
Understanding psychosis
| How can we make sense of the experience of psychosis? What is the best way to respond?
| Recovery planning
| What is a recovery plan? What collaborative processes should we use to develop, implement and review them?
| Trauma informed care
| What is it? Why do we need it? How can services introduce it? What are the special issues for women?
| Service user participation
| What do participation and leadership really mean? How can services help to break down the barriers and build service user capacity?
| Peer run services
| What are peer run services? Why are they important? How can services best support their development?
| Risk management
| What does risk mean to professionals, service users and other stakeholders? How do we manage risk in response to the views of service users?
| Compulsory treatment
| What is the range of service user views and experiences of compulsory treatment? How can we work to prevent compulsory treatment or find alternatives to it?
| Advocacy
| What is advocacy? How do the systems that affect us work? How can we become more effective advocates? How do we overcome personal barriers?
